Franklin M. Carmona, DVM
Dr. Carmona joined our hospital after graduating from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He became co-owner in 1992 and now he is the sole owner of the practice. His veterinary interests include surgery and pocket pets.
Dr. Carmona is married to Jacqueline Walsh, DVM and they have two children. Their pets include a box turtle and a Labrador Retriever named Wesley.
Alison V. Smith, DVM
Dr. Smith has been with North Hills since May of 2003. She graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003 with honors and received her Bachelor of Veterinary Science from MSU in 2001. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine but particularly loves the challenge of feline behavior. She shares her home with her family, her beagle mix dog Harper, and her tabby cat Townsend.
Jonathan Tenenzapf, DVM
Dr. Tenenzapf joined our practice in June 2015 after graduating from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor in 2010. His veterinary interests include dentistry, internal medicine, behavior, and surgery.
Dr. Tenenzapf enjoys staying active and being outdoors, traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and his two rescued domestic shorthair cats.
Annette grew up in Rochester Hills. She has a dog, Ossian, 2 cats, Lallie Joy and Pollyanna, and a cockatiel Professor Ludwig Von Drake.
Emily is currently going to Oakland University to achieve her undergraduate degree. She has been with our hospital since March 2015. In her spare time she enjoys riding and training horses.
Kim has worked at our hospital since 2013. She has experience working at Leader Dogs for the Blind and has a background in equine medicine. She has three cats, Ozzy, Lilith, and Fiona, and 2 dogs, Riley and Lolly. She also has a horse, Hopper, that she is training for competitions. When she is not training Hopper, she enjoys taking her dogs hiking or running.
Joyce Phillips , LVT
Joyce is a Licensed Veterinary Technician that graduated from Macomb Community College in May 1993 and has been working with the hospital since graduating from the technician program. She is our head technician and has the energy of an 18 year old and the memory of a super hero! She is one of the main reasons things move smoothly on a day to day basis. She is that go to person that every practice needs. Among her many responsibilities, she is our usual morning opener, taking care of early morning tasks before the rest of us get there. She is also our "inventory specialist" in addition to her many patient care duties. Outside of work she is usually playing on 2-3 soccer teams at a time, along with her other interests. She currently has 3 rescued cats.
Courtney Rindle, LVT
Courtney is a Licensed Veterinary Technician that graduated from Macomb Community College in May 2003. She has been working at our hospital since graduating from the program. Among her many talents, she is our usual tech support go-to person, and between our computer system, digital x-rays, and lab machines, we need a lot of tech support! She has amazing skills and her sense of humor keeps us going on the hard days. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She currently has a dog, Faith and 3 cats, Mouse, Roadie and Spooky.
Pamela Stema, LVT
Pamela is a licensed Veterinary Technician that graduated from Macomb Community College in 1995. She was a technician in the emergency department at a large local referral hospital for 12 years. She has also worked as a zoo keeper at the Detroit Zoo and as a technician at a feline practice. Her wisdom and experience have been a wonderful asset to us. She is very patient with the pets and very attuned to subtle changes with them, especially the very sick pets. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family. She currently has two dogs and one cat.
Sue Wyrick, LVT
Sue started working at our hospital in 1974 and now helps us on weekends. She and her husband Charlie have two Labrador Retreivers, Cooper and Finn.
Deb helps us on weekends. She is married to Mike and they have four daughters, twin grandsons and two granddaughters. She is a licensed wildlife rehabilitor. Her pets include 3 dogs, 3 cats, and multiple feathered friends.
